Confronting the Past: A Road to Redemption
Life is a journey filled with ups and downs, triumphs and challenges. For Cherry G., the past six years have been a rollercoaster of accomplishments, trials, and important decisions. In 2017, she embarked on her "Road to Redemption: Journey to Peace." It was a pivotal moment when she realized that to help others, she first needed to help herself. Cherry had been running from her own demons, wearing masks that hid her true identity. It was time to confront the hurts, disappointments, and bad decisions that had held her hostage for most of her life.
The Pursuit of Education: A Dream Come True
One of Cherry's lifelong desires was to obtain a college degree. Despite previous failed attempts, she enrolled as a traditional freshman in college in September 2017. She was determined to see it through this time, no matter the challenges. With the support of her family and friends, Cherry graduated in May 2021 from Oglethorpe University with a double major in Communications and Rhetoric Studies and Film and Media Studies. Her thirst for knowledge and change didn't stop there. In August 2021, Cherry found herself in New York, pursuing a career in writing and producing for television. It was a whirlwind experience, filled with uncertainty, but Cherry refused to be discouraged. She returned to Georgia in December 2021, eventually landing in San Antonio, Texas.
Embracing a Career in Journalism: Making Waves
San Antonio became a turning point in Cherry's life. She began teaching High and Middle school Communications, Broadcast Journalism, Arts and entertainment, and ELA. She became a member of the San Antonio Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists. But Cherry's journey didn't end there. Every day, she saw the opportunity to make a difference and challenged herself to do more. Cherry's passion for storytelling and making an impact led her to pursue a Master's degree in Multimedia Journalism Online at Full Sail University. In June 2023, she graduated as the Salutatorian, further cementing her dedication to her chosen path.
Spreading Positivity and Encouragement
Cherry's story is not just about personal growth and achievement. It's also about spreading positivity and encouragement to others.
